Sally (Sarah) Kenny 1803-1899

who married Thomas Balfe, in Kennystown, November 3, 1831 (text below)

A statement from John Balfe: "Sarah O'Meara did speak to me of "Grandmother" (Sarah Kenny), and said that she always wore that bonnet, it was a carry over from Ireland.  One of the things with these women Sarah Kenny, Sarah, O'Meara (one of the 4 sisters) and some of their children is how they encouraged their daughters to get on with a profession and a life outside of being a farmers wife....nothing wrong with that.  Both my maternal and paternal grandmothers were farm wives."
