Here are some dates of various Balfes all living in or near County Wicklow and Wexford, between the dates 1775 and 1850. Most recordings are in or near Kilcavan/Kennystown. None are in order, but are all good records for your research into this family that eventually settled in various parts of Ontario, Canada, mainly Smiths Falls and Oro.
Most records taken from John O'Neil's research commissioned by Della.

The 1848 and 1850 RENTALS show EDWARD BALF in 1850 aged 34 and
his wife aged 24 living in CARNEW and he had 1 rod 7 perch. He was a DAIRYMAN.
They had 1 son and 1 dau. in 1850. So this may be EDWARD BALF junior or son of
Edward junior who probably did not emigrate
. MARY BALF aged 50 in 1827 must be the sister in law of EDWARD BALF. We can only guess at what the brothers name was but I presume NICHOLAS and Thomas
Also the earliest reference to EDWARD BALF was found
> 19th Dec. 1811 when he went sponsor for RICHARD CAREY
> son of JOHN CAREY and ANNE CAREY
> and the other sponsor was Elizabeth Doyle. The
> location was : COOLROE. Coolroe is beside GURTEEN. I
> presume this EDWARD BALF is the same one
> found at KENNYSTOWN later. JOHN BALF was dead or gone
> by 1827. Perhaps the WIDOW BALF in KENNYSTOWN in 1827
> is his wife ?
The record is MICKL alias MICHAEL BALF (not mark)
> bapt. 18th May 1809 the son of JOHN and MARY BALFE

> of AUSTIN TOOLE and he died 16th Nov. 1839 aged 67 and
> his wife CATHERINE died 13th June 1857 aged 80 years.
> This CATHERINE TOOLE must be the one who married
> EDWARD BALF and lived in CARNEW. He was a Dairyman.
> She was born c.1825 but he was definitely born c. 1816
> if its the same couple ?
> Also buried in same grave is MICHAEL TOOLE died 1st
> March 1876 aged 72 brother of CATHERINE. I think
> CATHERINE
> was probably a bit older than 38 when she died in
> 1863.
In 1839 RENTALS we see that her son NICHOLAS BALFE
> aged 43 with his wife aged 45 was living with her. He
> was a LABOURER and then lived on ONE ROD which was not
> much bigger than what they had in 1827. His mother was

> These BALF were gone by 1848-50. I would think WIDOW
> BALF died during this period 1840-47.

BOLEY TOWNLAND:
>
> Firstly we have the WIDOW BALF born c. 1765-6 and her
> 4 sons and 3 daughters.
> Possible connections from available records :
> 1.
> NICHOLAS BALF born c. 1796 married MARY CARTY ( had
> MARY born 1824 and NICHOLAS born 1829)
> He was a LABOURER which usually means Agricultural
> Labourer in this area.
> 2.
> PATRICK BALF alias BOLF of BOLEY married ANN FOSTER

> JOHN BALF born c. 1789 or before married MARY BYRNE (
> had ANNE 1816, MARGARET or MARY 1812 or MARY 1814,

> This JOHN BALF lived at GORTEEN which is a townland

> he was of BOLEY and moved here to work in the same way
> that NICHOLAS BALF his brother moved around for work.
> 6.
> ELEANOR BALF went sponsor for JOHN BALFs child in
> 1808.
> KILCAVAN and KENNYSTOWN and PARKMORE townlands :
> Its possible that EDWARD BALF who took over 50 acres
> from PHILIP and DOROTHY KENNY c. 1824 may have come in from townland of BOLEY not only with
> his own family but with one of his deceased brothers
> family of BOLEY but leaving behind his other deceased
> brothers family in BOLEY. If so it means the unknown
> husbands (names not known presently) of the two WIDOW
> BALFS would be his brothers. We can guess at the name

> Obviously NICHOLAS and/or THOMAS would be good
> candidates.
> "WIDOW BALF "(1777) aged 50 in 1827:
> Her deceased husband by 1827 must be named NICHOLAS or
> THOMAS ?
> Had 3 sons and 3 daughters living with her in 1839.

> 5.
> MARY BALF married JAMES FOSTER
>
>
> ??EDWARD BALF (nothing known but one was born c.
> 1816).
>
>
> EDWARD BALF born c. 1773
> married unknown
> 1.
> MARGO or MARGARET BALF who married MICHAEL HENDRICK
> was definitely his daughter and probably
> his ONLY child.
> I believe there has been a mistake in regard to the
> two THOMAS BALF aged 36 and 30 in 1839.
> I now think the agent put in the same person twice in
> the RENTALS of 1839 and made a mistake with the ages.
> Both
> had 3 daughters and both had 11 acres. I think THOMAS
> BALF was moved off the land
> at Kennystown on EDWARD BALFs plots unto Richard
> Kennys plots and his name was entered twice.
> I believe also that EDWARD BALF born c. 1773 only had
> ONE child and she married MICHAEL HENDRICK.
> As you can imagine if he had more sons he would have
> looked after his own sons first. Instead he organised
> 12 acres for Michael Hendrick. So forget about the two
> THOMAS BALF. There is only ONE.
JOHN BALF and ALLY DOBBS had TWINS in 1834 :
> PATRICK and NICHOLAS BALF bapt. 12th May 1834
> Sp:
> PATRICK and JUDITH MURPHY
> NED BALF and MARY DOYLE.
> LOCATION :PARKMORE
> 5.
> EDWARD BALF who married CATHERINE TOOL of MONASEED is
> found on 42 acres 3 rod 10 perch at COOLBOY LOWER in
> 1850 where it states : "He lives in CARNEW and has
> dairy cows on the land lately held by WILLIAM BLAKE".
> This
> EDWARD BALF was born 1816. He is either son of JOHN
> BALF or EDWARD BALF
BRIDGET BALF would be a cousin of THOMAS BALF because
> JOHN BALF the father of MARY and ANNE was uncle of
> THOMAS.
> BROTHERS :
> JOHN BALF and wife MARY of GURTEEN and KENNYSTOWN :
> Children : MARY, MARGARET, ANNE , MARGARET (2) and
> MICHAEL
> PATRICK BALF and wife of BOLEY : Children : NICHOLAS
> and PATRICK
> EDWARD BALF and wife of KENNYSTOWN : Children :
> MARGO, MARY ,THOMAS ? and EDWARD b.c.1816.
> Other female BALFS would fit in with these somewhere
> along the line.
> MARY and ANNE are probably first cousins of THOMAS
> BALF.
Edward Balfe 1773, wife, ? Kenny, 1775m (probably a daughter of Philip Kenny Sr.)because Edward took over the farm after Philip Died.
Edward’s daughter was Margo, who married Michael Handrick.
MARRIAGE :
MICHAEL HANDRICK
1791
married MARGO BALFE 1797 or BALF 15th June
1818
wit : Ned alias EDWARD BALF and JOHN KENNY
Location : KENNYSTOWN.
SEVEN CHILDREN :
1.
MARY HANDRICK
bapt. 19th March 1820
sp; Martin Murphy and Ann Carroll
Location : KENNYSTOWN
2
CATHERINE HANDRICK
bapt. 24th July 1822
sp: Patrick Nowlan and Mary Behan
Location : KENNYSTOWN
3.
Tom alias THOMAS HANDRICK
bapt. 5th June 1824
sp; Patrick Murphy and Eliza Kenny

4.
BESS alias ELIZABETH HANDRICK
bapt.16th April 1827
sp: Patrick Shannon and Mary Doyle
Location : KENNYSTOWN

DENIS HANDRICK

Location : KENNSYTOWN
6.
MARGO HANDRICK

sp; William Kealy and Bid Connors
Location : KENNYSTOWN
7.
JOHANA alias JOHANNA HANDRICK
bapt. 24th March 1833
sp: Ned or EDWARD Kavanagh and Joana Murphy
Location :KENNYSTOWN
There was MARY BALF,1777
widow aged 50 with 3 sons and 3 daughters living with her in 1827 on this same
land.
Also, son of Edward Balfe and ? Kenny was Thomas Balfe, married possibly to Sally (Sarah) Kenny . Note that there were TWO Thomas Balfes recorded. Maybe they were the same person, but probably 1st cousins., maybe a son to Mary, 1777
ANOTHER THOMAS BALF
1803 aged 36 with
his wife 1811 aged 28
lived on RICHARD KENNYS plot (34 acres 10 perch).
They also had 3 daughters living with them and lived
on 11 acres 2 rod and one relative was living with
them who was aged 80 1759 (name not given).
One of these THOMAS BALFE was
married to SALLY KENNY
3rd Nov. 1831
wit : NED or EDWARD BALF and TOM or THOMAS KENNY
Location : KENNYSTOWN
Their children :
1.
MARY BALFE
bapt. 5th Sept. 1832
sp: Thomas KENNY and MARY BALF
Location : KENNYSTOWN
2.
ANNE BALF
bapt. 14th Sept. 1835
sp: Patrick and Sally DORAN
Location : KENNYSTOWN
3.
MARGO BALFE
bapt. 29th July 1838
(damage to end of page means sponors names missing).
4.
MARGARET BALFE
bapt. 10th Feb. 1845
sp: John Hickey and Mary Birch
Location : KENNSYTOWN
Another possible son to Edward
Sr. is NED BALF married CATHERINE KEALY 11th August
1839
wit : DS. KEALY and W. DILLON.
Location : HILLBROOK (north of KENNYSTOWN)
I think this must be EDWARD BALF son of EDWARD BALF
senior rather than a NED or NICK or MICK.
Their children :
1.
JOHN BALF
bapt. 23rd Sept. 1840
sp : JOHN BALFE and MARY KEALY
Location : KENNYSTOWN
2.
EDWARD BALF
bapt. April 1842 (no day given)
sp; DENIS and CATHERINE KEALY
Lcation : KENNYSTOWN
3.
MARY BALFE
bapt. 25th Sept. 1844
sp: PATRICK AND BETTY KEALY
Location : KENNYSTOWN
There is another BALF living in
PARK MORE townland
which is beside KENNYSTOWN who may be related to above
at KENNYSTOWN. I think its another brother who moved
up the road :
JOHN BALF
1809 and his wife ALLY DOBBS 1810
This JOHN BALF appears to be named in RENTALS at
COOLBOY alias HILLBROOK which is
beside PARK MORE : He was aged 30 in 1839 and his wife
was aged 26. He was a LABOURER on 5 acres with 1 son
and 1 dau. living with them in 1839.
CHILDREN :
1.
THOMAS BALF
bapt. 6th Feb. 1831
sp: THOMAS and BIDDY (Bridget) BALFE.
2.
MARY BALF
bapt. 18th July 1836
sp: MICHAEL BALF and Catherine Doyle
3.
JOHN BALF
bapt. 12th Jan. 1841
sp: Martin Murphy and Peggy Doyle
4.
NICK ? BALF
bapt. 6th August 1843
sp: John Murphy and MARY BALF
No Balfes were present in Kilcaven before 1808
The only BALFE found in Pos. 4256 TOMACORK is JOHN BALF and his wife MARY
BYRNE of GORTEEN which is just north of HILLBROOK alias COOLBOY UPPER. They had
two MARGARET BALF baptised : MARGARET bapt. 31st May 1808 sp: Peter Byrne and
ELEANOR BALF. And MARGARET BALF bapt 23rd Feb. 1812.Sp: Michael Munhall and Anty
Carroll. I presume one died before the other.
This seem to indicate that EDWARD BALFE was foreign to KENNYSTOWN until he got
PHILIP KENNYS lease on 50 acres (that’s if he had a lease which is unlikely).
I had a look at MS. 4974 which is more emigration
lists and found most of the BALF family listed . I cannot be certain they all
went but
their names were down to go. None of the BALFs were left in the area by
1848-50.
EDWARD BALF of KILCAVAN aged 67.
MARY KEHOE his daughter aged 25.
DENIS KEHOE his son in law aged 26.
CATHERINE aged 6 and ELIZABETH aged 1 their children.
"A CHEST GIVEN" (note in margin)
DATED : 1847.
THOMAS BALF of KILCAVAN aged 40
SARAH his wife aged 35
THOMAS aged 15
MARY aged 14
ANN aged 11
MICHAEL aged 8
PATRICK aged 5.
"Holds 11 acres of land from RICHARD KENNY"
Also listed but crossed out :
BIDDY SHANNON his cousin aged 35
THOMAS SHANNON aged 10 her son.
DATED : 1847
JOHN BALF of HILLBROOK ( north of KENNYSTOWN) no age
ALICE his wife
THOMAS aged 15
MARY aged 11
NICHOLAS aged 4
PATRICK aged 6 months.
"HOLDS 6 acres from THOMAS DOBBS".
(ALICE BALF was ALICE DOBBS before marriage).
DATED : 1847
This seems to indicate that the BALFS were put off
KENNYSTOWN before or around 1846-7 ? This might explain why EDWARD BALF and
MICHAEL HENDRICKS names appear in Rental of 1839 but no details like age or
family given just bare names which is unusual in that rental.
NOTE :
The 1848 and 1850 RENTALS show EDWARD BALF in 1850 aged 34 and his wife aged 24
living in CARNEW and he had 1 rod 7 perch. He was a DAIRYMAN.
They had 1 son and 1 dau. in 1850. So this may be EDWARD BALF junior or son of
Edward junior who probably did not emigrate but moved south into CARNEW town
though he looks a bit young being born c. 1816.
MARY BALF
1777 aged 50 in
1827 must be the sister in law of EDWARD BALF. We can only guess at what the
brothers name was but I presume NICHOLAS or THOMAS. I think the two THOMAS BALFs
are 1st cousins. One the son of EDWARD and one the son of the widow MARY.
