Farms in Nasewaupee, Wisconsin ( near Sturgeon Bay)

Many of the Kennys left Smiths Falls, Ontario and settled on the peninsula of Door County, Wisconsin.  Those that came here to live were all from the Thomas and Ellen Purcell Family.  It was just 20 years before this that they emigrated from Motabower, County Wexford, were they were near their family in Kennystown, County Wicklow, Ireland.

Many of the Kennys ended up her in the early 1870's, including, Bartholomew, James, Edward, Richard, Anne Kenny (Gillick) and even Mary was here for a short time.  This means all but one (Eleanor) came here.  Mary Kenny Hourigan was only there for a very short time prior to her marriage in 1876..

All of them lived and died there too, with the exception of Bartholomew, Richard and Mary.

Richard and Bartholomew lost all their belonging during the Peshtigo Fires of 1871.  In this fire, many lost their lives too, though these Kennys were fortunate to only loose their  farms and equipment.  It forced them to move.  Bartholomew I was unable to figure out where he went, but here are some suspected Bartholomew records that could link to him.

Richard moved his family first to Carroll County, Arcadia, Iowa where he lived from 1871-1994  Then he and his family moved to the City of Omaha, Nebraska.

James farmed in Nasewaupee down the road from his brother Edward's farm but later moved to the town of Sturgeon Bay.

Edward and Anne farmed across the street from each other.
